A new and dynamic community radio station, Phalombe FM, is set to launch in southern Malawi.
The station will begin broadcasting online by the end of May.
Confirming the development, Phalombe FM Co-Director Kondwani Ngalande said the privately owned station will roll out its services next month.
Ngalande explained that the station aims to amplify local voices and drive positive change through informative, entertaining and educational programming.
“Our team is passionate about building meaningful connections with our listeners. We want every show to be relevant and impactful,” he said.
“We believe every story matters. By focusing on people’s unique experiences, we create content that is authentic and relatable.”

He added that Phalombe FM is committed to serving the community with care and respect, while striving to become a leading platform that empowers and transforms lives through access to information and advocacy for social justice and development.
“Our mission is to educate, inform and entertain through inclusive programming that promotes social development, human rights and sustainable livelihoods,” Ngalande said.
The station has also recruited some well-known radio personalities in the country.
Its programming will include news coverage, talk shows and public interest segments to keep audiences informed about current events and key issues affecting Phalombe district and beyond.
